I’m a native Washingtonian from the Brookland area and I am thankful to have had help in overcoming living the street life, drug addiction, and lengthy incarceration.

I currently receive services for major depression and PTSD.

I am continuously pursuing higher education, and among several certifications,

I am extremely proud to have become a Certified Peer Specialist (class of 2017). I have also completed Seminar l & II of WRAP and I am now a WRAP Facilitator (class of 2017).

I’m no longer under the supervision of CSOSA, and in December of this year I’ll have 13 years of recovery from drugs and alcohol. I’m active in one of the local self-help groups as a co-chairman of my home group.

It is my belief that recovery must be addressed in all aspects of my life and I address my issues to the best of my ability on a daily basis. I also believe that it is important to use my lived experience as someone who is in recovery from active addiction and who is maintaining my mental wellness to assist others with substance abuse and/or mental health issues; and especially but not exclusively people who are returning citizens.

Currently I’m working as a volunteer with PEPP (Peers Empowering Peers Program) at DBH (Department of Behavioral Health), under the supervision of Mrs. Lynda Rush-Jordan.
