Gentri Gaines Bio

Gentri Gaines is a Certified Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) Facilitator and a Certified Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) Care Giver.  She has also received training through The DC Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) in Consumer Advocacy and in Community Supports and Networking. She is a tremendously multifaceted professional who brings many valuable consumer intervention, facilitation, management, and administrative skill sets to the table.

Gentri has a BA Degree from Howard University in Arts Management (studio art courses and business electives). She also has an accredited MS Degree from Southeastern University in Information Technology (with a concentration in Web Design).

Gentri currently spends her time facilitating WRAP workshops at Our Door Community Wellness Center. She also enjoys working as a Staff Aid at a DC nonprofit which serves the needs of developmentally disabled artists. She also has an interest in genealogy and in archival records preservation. She volunteers as a Digitization Technician at the National Archives.  Additionally, since 2015, she has been successfully tutoring an Adult Learner to sit for the National External Diploma Program (NEDP) Exam.

Gentri has been a consumer for over 30 years. She attributes her recovery and her wellness to her belief in the efficacy of the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP); continually buttressed by WRAP's five key concepts of: hope, personal responsibility, education, self advocacy, and support.
