People who experience mental health challenges no longer need to feel sentenced to a life of chronic disability that interferes with their ability to work toward and reach their goals. Instead, by using self-help skills and strategies that complement other treatment scenarios, they can achieve levels of wellness, stability, and recovery they always hoped were possible . The Five Key Recovery Concepts covered in this course were identified by Dr. Mary Ellen Copeland.
Each concept plays an important role in helping people to do the things they want to do and live the lives they want to live. This course covers the five key concepts: hope, personal responsibility, education, self-advocacy, and support. The Five Key Concepts can work for anyone who has ever experienced mental health difficulties, anyone who wishes to stay healthy and improve their own life, and people who support others who are working on their recovery.
